Anxiety is just one of those feelings that are really masking yet another problem in your life. People that have anxiety often have a lot of terrifying thoughts that make no sense at all. As an example, they may have tremendous fears they don’t tell anyone else. I knew a man who feared pools. He couldn’t hide his fear because our area had frequent pool events. He had been so afraid of the pool that he would just stay at home. Fortunately, he visited a therapist and it turned out his real anxiety was caused by suppressed emotions related to his family life. It looks odd in the beginning, but anxiety usually functions like a defense system.
If you have an irrational anxiety about something you could think about that anxiety is covering up one other issue. The fear works to alter your way of thinking. It’s like displaced anxiety. Most people can figure out what the real problems are in our lives when we open up our minds to the truth. But you must make a commitment to deal with the honest reality.
You don’t have to feel like a freak when you have anxiety. Just put in mind that this is just normal and it’s treatable. Early therapy would be the best solution you can do to prevent further more complications like manic disorder and other kinds of ocd.
